The making of itThe story behind the piece, and why we chose it
The moment you slip this lead over your dog's head, something shifts. The rope settles softly at the neck, your dog feels the gentle contact, and the two of you move together, connected by something that feels considered rather than merely functional.
Each lead is hand-spliced by Laura in her Oxfordshire studio, using traditional marine splicing techniques passed down through generations of ropemakers. The result is a lead with no weak points at the eye, no glue, no crimped fittings, just tightly interwoven rope that grows stronger under tension rather than pulling apart.
Built to withstand daily walks, sea-spray, and muddy fields, the rope rinses clean and dries quickly without stiffening. Because Laura works in small batches, every lead that leaves the studio has had her hands on every inch of it, and that is something no production line can replicate.
