Cat wall shelves, perches and climbers
Cat wall shelves give a cat height and territory without sacrificing floor space, doubling as wall design. The collection pairs handcrafted Cat's Atelier shelves, shaped and finished by hand in Poland, with climbers from the German design house MiaCara.
- Wall shelves: sculptural floating pieces such as The Wave, The Cozy Nook and The Wavey Retreat.
- Window perches: the Sunny Spot perch and Arcing View hammock for sunbathing.
- Towers and steps: the floor-standing MiaCara Torre tower, the wall-mounted Alto climber and Gradino step, plus a simple Cat Wall Step to link shelves into a route.
What each piece is made from
Materials change with the job each piece does. Cat's Atelier work in hand-formed metal for the curved shelves, including The Playful Curve and The Arcing Haven; in beech plywood for Softly Shaped and The Wavey Retreat; and in pine for The Cozy Nook and the Sunny Spot. The Cat Wall Step has an MDF core under its felt. MiaCara build the Alto climber from solid oak, and the Gradino step from powder-coated steel with a taut rope mesh surface.
Building a cat climbing wall
Mix wall shelves, cat wall steps and perches to build a climbing route that suits your room and your cat's confidence. Start the climb from the floor, or from furniture your cat already uses. Arrange the steps to suit your wall, since diagonal, diamond and staggered routes all work, and keep each rise an easy hop. The one thing to avoid is setting two steps directly on top of one another, so your cat always has room to place its paws.
