Designed by Danish studio Hans Thyge & Co, the Alto is a modular wall-mounted climbing system in oak, with a solid oak structure and oak-veneered modules. Start with the Structure, the wall-mounted frame every configuration is built on, then add Shelves, a Nest, House and Scratcher, each fixed to the frame at the height you prefer, plus Cushions for the small shelves. Every piece is sold separately, so you can add more at any time.

The making of itThe story behind the piece, and why we chose it
Somewhere between the afternoon light and the top shelf, your cat has claimed the highest point in the room as their own. The Alto gives them exactly that: a wall-mounted route upward, a sheltered nest to curl into, and a scratching panel to work through before settling in for the evening.
The result sits on your wall the way a considered piece of furniture would: intentional, calm, and entirely at home next to a bookshelf or beside a window.
Because the system is fully modular, you can begin with a single structure and expand over time, adding a nest, a house, a larger shelf, or an extension set as your cat grows bolder or your household grows. The structure mounts securely to the wall and each component attaches to it, keeping floor space clear and giving indoor cats the vertical territory their instincts ask for.

Cushions are available in two woven fabric covers: Hemp colourway, a natural woven-look finish, or anthracite, a dark charcoal weave that holds its colour well over time. All components are finished to a standard intended to sit alongside your own furniture without compromise.

Wipe the oak frame and shelves with a dry or lightly damp cloth to remove dust and hair. Avoid prolonged moisture on the wood surface. Cushion covers in Hemp and Anthracite can be removed and hand-washed in cool water, then left to air dry flat before refitting. The felt scratch panels will show natural wear over time as they are used, which is normal and indicates the panel is working as intended. Replace individual components as needed rather than the whole system.

Fixings are included: screws and wall plugs. The oak structure mounts to the wall and each module attaches to it at the height you choose. The supplied fixings are suitable for brick walls; for plaster, concrete or other wall types, use screws and plugs suited to that wall. On plasterboard, fix directly into a stud or beam so the wall can carry the weight securely.
