Why cats need height
Cats spend long stretches of their day watching the world through a window, and a ledge-mounted shelf turns that pastime into a comfortable resting place rather than a balancing act. Elevated window perches are a well-known source of enrichment for indoor cats. The curve echoes the wall range, so a window shelf can form one point of a route that continues along the room.

The making of itThe story behind the piece, and why we chose it
There is a particular kind of stillness that comes over a cat when it finds its perfect vantage point: pupils narrowing, tail curling slowly, the whole world reduced to whatever is happening just beyond the glass. The Arcing View gives your cat that moment, every single day, suspended at the window like a small, self-satisfied sentinel.
Handcrafted to order by Cat's Atelier in Poland, each shelf is shaped from a pre-bent frame, chosen for the way its curve becomes fully rigid once mounted. The gently arcing silhouette is not decorative flourish for its own sake: it distributes your cat's weight evenly across the surface and echoes the organic curves cats instinctively seek out in the wild.
At 60 cm wide, the shelf offers genuine sprawling room for cats of all sizes. Because every piece is made to order in a small Polish workshop, the wait is worth building into your plans.
How it mounts: The Arcing View is suspended from the window frame on stainless steel hooks, with flexible suction cups between the base and the glass that prevent direct contact with the pane. The suction cups protect the glass from scratches without bearing any load. Unlike suction-cup shelves sold elsewhere, The Arcing View cannot fall off the glass because it is not held up by the glass: the weight is carried by the hooks on the window frame. The shelf is suspended on thick cotton ropes.
Why we chose this
Cat's Atelier proved that a window-mounted shelf could be something a home is proud to show off, not just something the cat tolerates, and that combination is exactly what we look for.

The Arcing View is built on a pre-bent metal frame, selected for its stability once mounted and its resistance to the daily flexing that a cat's weight and movement place on a perch over time.
Both surfaces a cat settles on are fabric. The base of the sling is fabric covered, and a full-length upper cushion sits on top, both in a textured bobble knit. You choose the two fabrics separately from the same seven colourways, so they can match or contrast. The upper cushion cover lifts off for washing.

CareCleaning and everyday care
Wipe the surface down with a lightly dampened cloth as needed, avoiding prolonged moisture contact. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvent-based products on the metal surface. A dry microfibre cloth is ideal for everyday dust and fur removal between deeper cleans.

How to Plan Your Cat's Climbing Route
A single shelf is a good start. A proper route, one your cat climbs from the floor with confidence, only needs a few planning basics.
- Start from the floor. The most reliable route needs no furniture at all: a short run of steps leading up to a perch works in every room, for every cat.
- Think in three bands — a low launch point up to about half a metre, a middle climbing band up to around a metre and a half, and a high vantage perch above that with a clear view.
- Space each step around 20 to 30cm apart, so every move is an easy step rather than a jump.
- Just don't stack steps directly on top of one another. Beyond that, arrange them however suits your wall, diagonally, in a diamond, a triangle, or staggered from side to side.
- Most rooms need three to five pieces to build a comfortable floor-to-perch route.
- A window is a popular spot for a shelf, giving your cat the view and the natural light to watch the room from.
- Two cats, two routes. Where space allows, give each cat its own way up rather than one shared route with a single pinch point.
- Easy to fix. Every piece comes with concealed fixings and full fittings, and mounts securely to masonry or a plasterboard wall with studs.
