Why cats need height
Cats instinctively seek raised vantage points to rest and survey the room. A wall-mounted shelf creates that territory without claiming floor space, which is useful in any home and especially welcome where floor space is at a premium. In multi-cat households, extra vertical space gives each cat a place to call their own and is widely cited by behaviourists as a factor in reducing tension. Finished to complement considered interiors rather than contrast with them.
Everything else
The making of itThe story behind the piece, and why we chose it
Watch where your cat actually settles in your home. The top of the bookcase. The back of the chair you don't sit in. The windowsill that catches morning light. Cats choose elevation as a behaviour, not a luxury, and they need a spot they can claim without competing with you for it.
The Wave answers that. Each shelf is hand-shaped to order in a small Polish workshop, with the curve of the profile carved before the surface is finished and the hollow along the face built deep enough for a curled-up cat or a long-bodied stretch. The 40kg load rating sits well above any cat's weight. An adult Maine Coon landing from height onto the shelf will not flex it, and the frame stays rigid through years of daily use.
Mounted invisibly through the wall, the Wave leaves no bracket, no hook, no visible hardware on the shelf face. Once installed, the shelf reads as part of the room rather than something added to it.
The Wave comes in two mirror profiles, Dip Right and Dip Left, which let you choose the curve direction that suits the wall. Each shelf is made to order in Cat's Atelier's Polish workshop. The frame carries a 5-year warranty.
Why we chose this
We chose the Wave because most cat shelves still look like cat shelves, and the Wave's curved profile reads as an architectural line on the wall whether the cat is using it or not.

The Wave is made from a handmade metal frame, chosen for its long-term structural strength and resistance to warping. The curved form becomes fully rigid once mounted, well suited to a piece that will carry a cat's full weight day after day.
On top sits a full-length cushion, secured by Velcro so it stays put and lifts off when you want to wash the cover. The base fabric and the upper cushion fabric are chosen separately from the same seven colourways.
CareCleaning and everyday care
Wipe the shelf surface with a dry or lightly damp cloth to remove dust, hair, and general grime. Avoid saturating the metal surface or using solvent-based cleaning products, which can affect the finish over time. For the wall fixings, check that all fittings remain secure every few months, particularly if your cat is an enthusiastic jumper.

Where is the Floating Cat Wall Shelf - The Wave made?
Each piece is handmade to order by Cat’s Atelier in their small workshop in Poland.
How long does delivery take, and what is your returns policy?
As each piece is made to order, production plus delivery to the UK typically takes 5 to 8 working days. UK delivery is free on orders over £75, otherwise £6.99. Import fees on EU shipments are absorbed by Deluxe Pet Co, so there is nothing further to pay on delivery.
We accept returns within 30 days on unused items in their original condition.
How is the Floating Cat Wall Shelf - The Wave mounted, and are the fixings included?
The fixings you need are included - screws, bolts and wall plugs. The piece mounts to the wall on its bracket. On plasterboard, fix directly into a stud or beam so the wall can carry the weight securely. The mounting bracket's fixing centres are 40.6 cm apart.
What is the difference between Dip Left and Dip Right?
Our Wave shelf comes in two profiles at each size. The shape you pick changes how your cat uses the shelf.
Most customers choose Dip Left. Cats favour the deeper recess for stretching out.

The frame and mounting hardware carry a 5-year guarantee against manufacturing defects. Cushions and fabric covers are treated as refreshable textiles and carry a 2-year warranty. If an item arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos.

How much weight can a cat wall shelf hold?
The Wave is load-rated to 40kg, covering virtually any domestic cat including large breeds such as Maine Coons or Norwegian Forest Cats. The rating applies to the shelf, fixings, and wall anchor together, not to the board alone, which is why a shelf's load rating only matters as a combined figure. A 40kg rating comfortably supports multi-cat households where more than one cat may use the shelf at the same time.
What does invisible fixings mean on a cat wall shelf?
Invisible fixings means the wall bracket and anchor points are concealed inside the shelf body rather than visible underneath or at the sides. On the Wave, the wall plate is fixed to the wall first, then the shelf locks over it, so from the front and sides the shelf appears to float with no visible hardware on its face. This is different to standard cat shelf designs where the bracket is visible underneath the board. The load-bearing mechanics are not affected by the concealment: the same metal frame that gives the shelf its rigidity carries the load once it is mounted.
What size cat wall shelf do I need for my cat?
The Wave comes in two lengths, 75cm and 95cm, both 32cm deep. For a single adult cat, the 75cm shelf gives enough room to turn around and lie along its length. For a larger cat (a Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, or large Ragdoll) or if you want space for two cats to use the same shelf, the 95cm size is the better fit. Each length is available in either the Dip Left or Dip Right profile and in seven cushion colours.

How to Plan Your Cat's Climbing Route
A single shelf is a good start. A proper route, one your cat climbs from the floor with confidence, only needs a few planning basics.
- Start from the floor. The most reliable route needs no furniture at all: a short run of steps leading up to a perch works in every room, for every cat.
- Think in three bands — a low launch point up to about half a metre, a middle climbing band up to around a metre and a half, and a high vantage perch above that with a clear view.
- Space each step around 20 to 30cm apart, so every move is an easy step rather than a jump.
- Just don't stack steps directly on top of one another. Beyond that, arrange them however suits your wall, diagonally, in a diamond, a triangle, or staggered from side to side.
- Most rooms need three to five pieces to build a comfortable floor-to-perch route.
- A window is a popular spot for a shelf, giving your cat the view and the natural light to watch the room from.
- Two cats, two routes. Where space allows, give each cat its own way up rather than one shared route with a single pinch point.
- Easy to fix. Every piece comes with concealed fixings and full fittings, and mounts securely to masonry or a plasterboard wall with studs.
This piece: 75cm or 95cm long, 32cm deep, rated to 40kg, fixing centres 40.6cm.
