Senso gives them that. A recycled orthopaedic memory foam mattress conforms to their body for spinal alignment and gentle joint relief. The bouclé-covered bolsters give them something to press against, and the removable cover lifts off for the washing machine. Watch a dog get into bed. They walk a circle, scratch at the surface, drop down hard onto their hip, and roll until they find the angle their joints prefer. Older dogs and large breeds take longer to settle, finding the position that takes pressure off the hips and elbows. The Senso mattress is recycled orthopaedic memory foam, shaping itself to the body weight on top of it and supporting the spine and hips in whatever angle the dog has chosen.
The bolsters around three sides are wrapped in bouclé, a looped-yarn weave that gives the dog something to press a shoulder or chin against without flattening under weight. The whole cover lifts off in one piece for the washing machine. Mud, fur, the smell of an outdoor walk, all of it goes through a regular cycle. The mattress underneath stays as it was.
The Senso comes in five sizes from small to large, priced from £205, and choosing the right size matters more than choosing the colour. A bed too small forces the dog to curl when they want to stretch. A bed too large lets the dog burrow into a corner instead of using the bolsters.
