Round Sisal Cat Wall Step
A round wall step wrapped in triple-braided sisal rope over a solid wood core, with powder-coated metal ends and completely concealed fixings. The rope gives paws a secure grip on the way up or down and lets your cat stretch and use its claws as it climbs. Use one as an extra foothold below a shelf, or several as a route across the wall. - 26cm long, 10cm diameter, a foothold between shelves
- Sisal rope over a solid wood core, beige metal ends
- Fully concealed fixings, no visible screws or brackets
- Handmade by Cat's Atelier in Poland
- Brush the rope clean and check the fixings now and then
Why cats need height
A step gives a cat an extra foothold on the way up to a shelf, and several together turn a bare wall into a climbing route without taking any floor space. The sisal rope surface gives a secure grip for jumping up or climbing down, and lets a cat engage its claws and stretch as it climbs.

The making of itThe story behind the piece, and why we chose it
Cats see a wall differently from us. To them it is not the edge of the room but the start of a route upwards, and a single round step is often all it takes to turn a jump into an easy climb.
Each step is handmade by Cat's Atelier in Poland: a solid wood core wrapped in triple-braided sisal rope, finished at both ends with powder-coated metal in beige. The rope gives paws a secure grip when jumping up or climbing down, and lets your cat engage its claws and stretch as it climbs.
The mounting is completely concealed. Once installed, no screws, brackets or supports are visible, so the step appears to extend straight out of the wall. Use one as an extra foothold on the way to a shelf, two or three as a staircase, or more to build a route across the wall alongside Cat's Atelier shelves.
Why we chose this
Cat's Atelier prove that something made thoughtfully in a small Polish workshop, from honest materials, can give a cat a better life and a home a better look.

How to Plan Your Cat's Climbing Route
A single shelf is a good start. A proper route, one your cat climbs from the floor with confidence, only needs a few planning basics.
- Start from the floor. The most reliable route needs no furniture at all: a short run of steps leading up to a shelf works in every room, for every cat.
- Think in three bands: a low launch point up to about half a metre, a middle climbing band up to around a metre and a half, and a high shelf above that with a clear view.
- Space each step around 20 to 30cm apart, so every move is an easy step rather than a jump.
- Just don't stack steps directly on top of one another. Beyond that, arrange them however suits your wall, diagonally, in a diamond, a triangle, or staggered from side to side.
- Most rooms need three to five pieces to build a comfortable floor-to-shelf route.
- A window is a popular spot for a shelf, giving your cat the view and the natural light to watch the room from.
- Two cats, two routes. Where space allows, give each cat its own way up rather than one shared route with a single pinch point.
- Easy to fix. Every piece comes with concealed fixings and full fittings, and mounts securely to masonry or a plasterboard wall with studs.
This piece: 26 x 10cm round step, sisal-wrapped, concealed fixings, rated to 15kg. A grippy foothold between shelves.
